GL.iNet Launches Beryl 7 Travel Router, Achieving Peak 1100 Mbps VPN Speeds

Hong Kong, February 3, 2026 – GL.iNet, a leading developer in OpenWrt-based networking announces the launch of the Beryl 7 (GL-MT3600BE), a successor to the Beryl AX (GL-MT3000). The Beryl 7 is a dual-band Wi-Fi 7 router combining multi-gigabit wired connectivity, high-speed VPN capability, and flexible power options without compromising portability. The Beryl 7 achieves wireless speeds of up to 688 Mbps (2.4 GHz) and 2882 Mbps (5 GHz), and secure VPN speeds of up to 1100 Mbps (WireGuard®) and 1000 Mbps (OpenVPN®-DCO). The router features a USB 3.0 port for network sharing via 4G/5G dongles or storage access, and a flexible type-C port that supports PD input for easy power supply while traveling or in mobile settings. Built on an OpenWrt-based system, it offers advanced customization and multi-WAN support.

Blazing 1100 Mbps VPN Speeds

Powered by a 2.0 GHz quad-core MediaTek CPU, the Beryl 7 can hit peak VPN speeds of up to 1100 Mbps (WireGuard®) and 1000 Mbps (OpenVPN®-DCO), providing a smooth and swift experience when performing network-intensive tasks like HD streaming and large file transfers, all the while being secure and protected.

GL.iNet’s firmware also enables advanced VPN functionalities that allow users to simultaneously run multiple VPN tunnels with custom routing policies for client devices.

Dual 2.5G Ethernet Ports

Beryl 7 comes with two full-featured 2.5G Ethernet ports, including one configurable WAN/LAN port.. The wired connections are important to fully utilize multi-gigabit services or provide a separate wired network channel to a NAS or mini-PC while the router handles wireless clients.

Universal Type-C Charging

Beryl 7 can be powered with USB Type-C Power Delivery (5V/3A, 9V/3A, 12V/2.5A input), which is compatible with common chargers used for mobile phones and laptops, or power banks, making it convenient to integrate into travel setups.

Sitting only at 120 x 83 x 34 mm and 205 grams, it is lightweight and compact enough to fit in backpacks and travel kits.

Expansive Network Connections

Beryl 7 is equipped with a USB 3.0 port reliably pairs with most 4G/5G dongles for instant internet access. The built-in tethering function can also wirelessly extend an existing mobile hotspot, increasing the number of supported client devices. The attached dongles and mobile tethering can both serve as primary or backup WAN use. The USB port also enables network storage sharing from attached drives or SSDs.

Availability

Beryl 7 is available for order at $139.99 starting on February 3, 2026 through GL.iNet’s official website and on Amazon.
